What Makes Montgomery Borough Special  

Montgomery Borough is part of Lycoming County. It was incorporated in 1887. A prominent farmer, Robert Montgomery, gave land to the railroad station and his name to the community. Although its early industry was based on grist and saw mills, Montgomery came to be known for its furniture manufacturers.

According to the 2014 census, the population of Montgomery was 1,571 people. The average household size is 2.7. In September 2015, the unemployment rate was 5.8 percent. The average real estate property taxes is about $1,800.

Schools - Elementary and High School

Montgomery Area High School listed in top 100 high schools in PA by US News in 2017. According to the District website, in 2009-2010, the district served about 900 pupils. There is a fierce football rivalry with Muncy High School. Sports are important to the community as are academics. The Montgomery Lad Raiders took the district championship in Class A Girls Basketball in 2007. The softball team and baseball team have reached state championship levels.
